Updates about our beloved Ping

Dear family and friends all over the world,

Thank you all for keeping caring about us and Ping. I would like to share the good news that Ping's respirator has been removed! ^ __ ^ As initially mentioned, Ping's recovery would take a long long way to go. So far Ping has experienced a complicated and high-risk open-heart surgery, an E.C.M.O removal surgery, a completely chest-closing surgery, a hernia repair surgery, a cardiac catheterization and a number of tests and treatments. Finally, on 25, Aug. 2014, Ping’s respirator was removed and she began to breathe fresh air! Praise Lord!^__^

After removal of the respirator, Ping’s breathing frequency was still too high and it was a little bit difficult for her to breath smoothly. Even though her breathing frequency was still within the safe range, breathing entirely on her own may cause too much loading on her cardio-system and even lead to "respiratory failure.” So after removing the original respirator (connected to her lungs), the medical team installed another respirator (put only in her nasal cavity) for facilitating her breathing ability. If Ping’s breathing frequency is lower than 40 times a minute when she is awaken, the medical team may further consider to remove the new respirator.

Ping still needs to rely on the respirator, but we know her breath of life is in the hands of God. Not only for her to grow every day we praise, but also for all love surrounding her we feel grateful! Dear family and friends, thank every one of you for all the concern, support and love that you have been giving us. I believe Ping could also feel it!

List of Grace and Praise
We have really experienced the heavenly abundance, not only so much love around, but the amazing grace as well. We don’t take all these for granted, and we want to present our praise and thanksgiving to God!
After a difficult, high risk open-heart surgery, ECMO was successfully removed.
All the important documents and registration about Ping were done extraordinarily fast.
Her renal function turned into normal. The dialysis was stopped.
I was allowed to play hymn in Ping's ward.
She started eating formula milk.
Her pneumothorax healed and all the drainage tubes on her chest were removed.
No more treatment of nitric oxide.
Her urine catheter was removed.
Her heart shrank a bit.
The oxygen concentration from her respirator became the same as atmospheric level.
She started eating breast milk. No more cardiotonic and blood-pressure-booster.
Her chest open was completely closed.
Her jaundice index dropped under 10.
Her cerebral hemorrhage completely disappeared.
She showed her first smile and first tears.
Her hernia repair surgery was successful and safe.
Her cardiac catheterization was safe and smooth.
It is confirmed that she doesn’t have megacolon.
Her vascular fully recovered after cardiac catheterization.
Her respirator was successfully removed.
She could suck the pacifier in her mouth well, even for the very first time. (It’s extremely difficult for a newborn baby who has used a respirator for more than 3 months.)
We could finally hold Ping in our arms.
She is heavier than 3,000g.
She transferred from “Surgical ICU” to “Newborn ICU”.
Her liver shrank a little bit that improved her breathing and digestion.
Her voice chord recovered well.
Her central venous catheter was removed.

Prayer List
We declare Ping’s breath of life is in the hands of God. We also continue to entrust Ping to God with prayers as follows:
No SCID (severe combined immune deficiency)
No C5-OH congenital metabolic diseases
Bloating problems (affecting her respiratory and digestive ability) get solved.
Breathe slower and more steady. (Goal: Lower than 40 times a minute.)
Language and EQ development would be smooth.
Her muscle would rehabilitate well.
There is a cyst in her left ventricle. Hope it would disappear or there would not be any negative effects.
She could successfully learn how to “swallow".
The shunt (artificial blood vessel) connecting her heart and lungs would be  blocked naturally and appropriately. Then there would be no more surgeries for her heart and lungs.

We are very grateful to have your care and warm, sincere support! We would like to praise God!^ __ ^ We will also continue to accompany Ping, and pray for her!
